Did you know…?

Whereas Mozart was 10, Shostakovich was 19, and Mendelssohn was 15 when their first symphonies were written, Johannes Brahms (1833-1897) didn’t write his First Symphony until he was 43. “Composing a symphony is no laughing matter,” he said.

You can hear Symphony No. 1 in C Minor, op 68, by Brahms at the SoR Winter Concert (31 Jan & 1 Feb).
