Symphony and Soccer!

Besides the alliteration, what possible connection could there be? Do Manchester United and Manchester City vie for sponsorship of the Hallé Orchestra? Well, who knows – but here on the Mendocino Coast, you might be surprised to hear that some of the most popular soccer tournaments in Fort Bragg turn out to be big fund-raisers for the Symphony of the Redwoods.

The Spookfest takes place on October 25 and 26, and symphony lovers can help bring in the funding for the symphony by volunteering their help over the weekend. You don’t have to know anything about soccer – you can do a 2 hour shift or stay all day. You will stand on the fields (near Cotton Auditorium), check in teams, watch the games, report the scores, and communicate to the coordinators on the radios. Sounds to me like an easy way to help your orchestra. Call Tess Albin, 707- 961-1123 if you would like be involved.
