Navarro River String Camp Creates Environment for Musical Enjoyment and Learning

navarro river string camp

The waiting list for the Navarro River String Camp summer session (August 10-14) is still open! This bi-annual chamber music camp based in the redwood forests of northern California is “…for beginning and intermediate adult string players to gain ensemble experience.”

Symphony of the Redwoods co-founder and board member, Marcia Sloane, along with Marion Crombie, created the camp in 2004, giving violin, viola, and cello musicians the opportunity to rehearse in coached and uncoached groups. These classes allow participants to develop their skills in rhythm, intonation, and sight-reading, as well as other music and ensemble skills. Musical abilities of the campers vary, with the main goal being “…a cross-fertilization of inspiration and support across all levels…,” with no competitive edge.
