Tonight marks Bob Wheat’s final meeting as Board President, after serving for two years. “So many Symphony supporters have said so many kind things to me over the last few years that I really came to believe that yes, we do make a difference with our contributions to our community,” said Wheat as he reflected on his time in the position.
He is optimistic about the direction the Symphony and the board is heading. “We have assembled a very talented board of directors led by our incoming president that will continue to cultivate classical music in our community and make sure that we ‘live within our means.’”
Effective tomorrow, Jeffrey Grant will step in to fill the role. “My goals for the Symphony are to continue the excellent classical music on the Mendocino coast and to make more people a part of this great organization,” said Grant.
Grant has been studying music since age 9, starting with trumpet and branching into singing in college. He moved to Fort Bragg with his wife and son two and a half years ago. He is also involved in Gloriana Musical Theatre, Mendocino College Choir and Mendocino Theatre Company.
