Symphony of the Redwoods is undoubtedly one of the best community orchestras in the country. Few small towns can boast better. Every year since 1983, we have brought quality classical orchestral and chamber music to the Mendocino coast. Each year, we present three concerts — Fall, Winter and Spring — which often feature some of the talented local soloists who have chosen to live here because of the rich cultural milieu. We are also frequently graced with superb soloists from beyond our area. It has been said that Symphony of the Redwoods is the “crown jewel” of the local arts scene.
Our orchestra has a local core, but musicians come from miles around to join Allan Pollack, our wonderful Musical Director, and their friends, making music for everyone’s pleasure.
Symphony of the Redwoods is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization which survives largely on donations from individuals and businesses who recognize how important we are to the community: providing musical enjoyment for the local population and visitors to our region, as well as a home base for skilled musicians who lend their talents to events for miles around, playing and teaching not just classical, but jazz, rock and pop, too.
